UNE TV (Honduras)
In the 21st century, the main daily newspapers and radio and television stations were placed under close government control. This made them less responsive to their audiences and more reliant on advertising for revenue, particularly in relation to visual education.
In this unit you will explore how broadcast television has evolved into a popular mass medium in our contemporary environment of media convergence. Through a range of case studies you will investigate how the production and programming strategies have adapted to the changing media landscape, and how audiences are interacting with the medium in new ways.
A key part of the UNE mission is to provide a platform for the expression of Honduran culture and identity, including the news and information that is relevant to citizens' daily lives. This involves covering news related to Honduras' social, cultural and economic sectors as well as providing coverage of local events and international affairs.
UNE also provides news and analysis in the fields of sport, art, music and entertainment. This includes the live transmission of national and international sporting events as well as the broadcast of programmes from cultural institutions.
The channel also broadcasts a variety of European and non-Hungarian films. It is available in Brussels and Wallonia via digital terrestrial (DVB-T), cable (VOO & Telenet), satellite (TeleSAT) and Belgacom TV (IPTV).
